Along the river valley

The river valley is popular.
On the upper side is the Boulevard
with beautiful houses in the million dollar range.
I didn't take photos here, because of the privacy issue.

Down, along the river, where the hiking path runs,
one can see a different type of dwellers.
Homeless people have their "shelters" here.

I came over a "lean-to",
enough to stay out of the wind and dry.

The other was more camping style.
Tarps where arranged tent-like.
All around someone had placed trash bags
with whatever possessions they have.

A well worn path led to it,

and as soon as the leafs are out this one
will be invisible
from the path that runs below.
I quickly move on,
contemplating how different live can be,
only a few meters apart.

Further along the path I saw
fresh signs of beaver activity.

It is amazing that they are here at all,
considered how strong the current in the river is.

The "catkins" are out and
it's only a matter of days now
before the first green leafs will show.

At the end of our walk
we had to ascend quite a few stairs up to the road.
12 year old Molly wasn't happy about that.
It is more and more obvious that she is no longer
a "spring chicken" .
While she climbed slowly she seemed to consider
the pattern the sun made on the wooden surface.

On our way back to the house
we watched the first players enjoying themselves on
the golf course.

Auntie's translation

findet man ganz andere Behausungen.
