Walking an unfinished trail

Fall has arrived with its beautiful colours.

It marks the transition towards dark long winter days.

Despite of the brisk northerly winds we had a very nice walk along one of the newer

trails in the Roosevelt Campobello Natural Park area. 

 It leads from Fox Farm along the northern part of Upper Duck Pond 

to the bog north of Lower Duck Pond.

An easy walk on a well constructed trail.

We saw lots bright orange mushrooms along both sides. 

A look at the gills revealed that this were False Chanterelle.

Sunlight filtering through the trees created wonderful contrasts of light and shadow.

Some ferns are already turning colour

At the very end of the trail ends at a wast bog.

There are future plans of the park to continue the trail towards Lower Duck Pond.

We are looking forward to it. At the moment the project has stalled.

Provincial issues have cropped up and need to get solved first, probably environmental protection matters,

before the trail can be finished.

On another day we walked near Roosevelt Cottage and enjoyed the view

from there towards Friar's Head and the rock "Friar".

Salmon production rings in the water of the bay.

Down by the water a Great Blue Heron was hunting for fish.

On the way back to the car this little bright red maple leaf captured my attention.

The leaf that inspired the Canadian flag.

Bei frischem nördlichem Wind wanderten wir heute auf einem der neuen Pfade unseres Parks.

Am Rand wuchsen überall viele orangefarbene Pilze, die sich bei näherer Untersuchung als

"Falsche Pfifferlinge" herausstellten. 

Die Sonnen warf Licht und Schatten auf die Farne.

Am Ende des Weges angekommen blickt man über ein großes Hochmoor.

Es gibt Pläne den Pfad zu verlängern, aber bevor die Provinz das "grüne Licht "geben kann müssen 

erst noch Lanschaftsschutzpläne ausgearbeitet und begutachtet werden.

An einem anderen Tage aufgenommen ein Blick in Richtung Friar`s Head und die

Felsformation "Friar". Im Wasser sind die Ringe einer Lachsaufzuchtanlage zu sehen.

Am Ufer stand ein Kanadareiher auf der Lauer. 

Auf dem Rückweg zum Auto ein leuchtend rotes 

Ahornblatt.

Eins solches diente wohl als Vorbild für die Kanadischen Fahne.
