Almost done with 2019
Fall came with its beautiful colours.
We did a lot of hiking around.
It was so nice being outside in the mild days of
September and October.
The first snow came and melted again.
The days got shorter and
the fierce winter storms started to torment us.
Business as usual I should say.
What do we do all day long? We started on a renovation project
that I have had in mind for quite a while.
Finally!
The walls were opened in one of the unused rooms and double insulated.
Lots of dust and dirt around the house, but it will be worth while
in the end. We never used the room it was to cold int the winter and too hot in the summer.
The plan is to make it into a nice and cosy guest room.
Now we are in the process of choosing a colour for the walls.
I unearthed my knitting and crocheting needles and joint a group of likeminded
women who meet at the public library once a week to socialize and knit/crochet.

The first projects were a bit funny and I did a lot of unravelling,

old fashioned pot holders
but I am getting the hang of it again.
The only thing is my eyes are getting tired from of the
short distance much quicker then they used to. Even with the new glasses.
I used to sit and watch the birds coming to the feeder but this year is weird. No bird around.
Luckily I did not buy a big bag of seed yet. The amount that I went through within two month is minimal.
The most is still unused in the bag. Where did all the birds go?
One of the last sunsets before the sun turned again. Soon the days will be longer and
Will be on the way to spring again.
Last seconds of the setting sun before she disappears behind distant tree tops.
But first we have days of celebration ahead. Christmas Day and a new year are close.
As usual it will be a quiet affair with family so far away, We will visit with some friends though,
but mostly enjoy the warmth of our living room.
With that I finish up this last posting of the year 2019 and wish all of you
a good time with friends and family.

Die warmen Herbsttage sind längst vorbei. Wir haben sie gut genutzt und die
Farbenpracht bewundert. Doch die Tage wurden kürzer, kälter und die
üblichen eisigen Winterstürme setzten ein.
Wie immer in jedem Winter.
Was machen wir so wenn es draussen stürmt und ungemütlich wird.
In diesem Jahr haben wir wieder mal an ein Renovierungsprojekt gestartet.
Endlich!
Ein weiteres Zimmer hat nun auch doppelt gedämmte Aussenwände und ich hoffe dass wir
es auch mehr benutzten werden. Es war nämlich immer zu kalt und zugig.
Im Moment suchen wir nach der "richtigen" Wandfarbe.
Ausserdem habe ich meine Stricknadeln wieder ausgegraben.
Eine Gruppe gleichgesinnter Damen treffen sich einmal die Woche in der
Leihbibliothek zum Stricken/Häkeln und "Klönschnack" (wie die Norddeutschen es sagen würden)
Meine ersten Versuche waren etwas lustig und komisch. Mehrere Objekte wurden auch wieder aufgeribbelt, aber mit der Zeit wird da doch noch was draus.
z. B. Mütze mit Eulen, Hausschuhe und altmodische Topflappen.
Meine Futterbretter für die Vögel werden in diesem Jahr merkwürdigerweise nicht besucht.
Ein Glück dass ich nur ein kleines Paket Sonnenblumenkerne gekauft hatte denn
nach fast zwei Monaten ist es immer noch Dreiviertel voll.
Wo sind nur alle Wintervögel abgeblieben?
Am kürzesten Tag des Jahres habe ich die letzten Sekunden des Sonnenuntergangs
photographiert. Von nun an werden die Tage wieder länger.
Doch vorher kommen noch Weihnachten und das Neujahrsfest.
Wir werden diese Tage mit Freunden oder gemütlich am eigenen Herd verbringen.

wünsche euch allen ein Gutes Feiern und das
alle Wünsche für das kommende Jahr in Erfüllung gehen.
